Position Overview
As Product Owner, you will be responsible for driving the product roadmap for our transformation components, shaping requirements, and managing a team of junior product architects. Your deep understanding of ABAP and SAP modernization will be critical in helping us solve complex customer problems through smart automation and design.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Product Owner for ABAP Code remediation and transformation features within smartShift’s automation platform
- Own and evolve the transformation product roadmap, aligning with overall company goals and customer needs
- Translate high-level vision into detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Work closely with engineering, QA, and UX teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Engage with internal stakeholders to gather feedback and continuously refine transformation strategies
- Define and maintain technical requirements related to ABAP transformation, including ABAP syntax transformation and Clean Core application transformation
- Manage and provide technical leadership to two junior product architects, fostering their growth and ensuring alignment with product goals
- Stay on top of SAP ecosystem developments, particularly around ABAP, S/4HANA, and Clean Core principles
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with global teams
- Strong problem-solving mindset and an eagerness to work on complex, impactful challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands-on ABAP development experience, including deep knowledge of classic and modern ABAP (OO, CDS, BOPF, AMDP, etc.)
- Familiarity with clean core strategies and SAP BTP
- Proven management, team lead or technical leadership experience, ideally in a product-driven or agile environment
- Strong understanding of SAP transformations, including S/4HANA migrations, custom code remediation, and modernization best practices
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate technical challenges into product opportunities
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!)
